Frequently Asked Questions
Why a theory exam?
You must pass a theory exam before you can go for your practical exam. Driving lessons without a theory exam are possible.
How long is a theory exam valid?
The result “passed” your theory exam is valid for a year and a half. On the contrary, we recommend passing your theory exam early because it will benefit you with the practical lessons.
How old do I need to be for car driving lessons?
You can take driving lessons from the age of 16 and a half.
Where can I register?
You can sign up by purchasing a driving lesson package, theory course or something else. We will call you afterwards to schedule it.

Can I start driving lessons immediately after my registration?
Yes, we have no waiting periods. Your first driving lesson always takes place within one to seven days of registration. In consultation, anything is possible.
Do I have driving lessons from a regular instructor?
Yes it is possible to receive driving lessons from one permanent instructor. If you would like to take driving lessons from another instructor, this is of course always possible.
What car do I have driving lessons in?
Can I already take car driving lessons without a theory certificate?
Yes, you can. We do recommend passing your theory exam early because it will benefit you with the practical lessons.
I failed my practical exam at another driving school, can I still come to you?
Yes, you are then eligible for a retake. Of course, you can also choose individual lessons.
Is it possible to take several driving lessons with your driving school in one week?
Yes, in consultation with your driving instructor, you can take multiple driving lessons per week.
What is an interim test?
This is a mock exam administered by a CBR examiner. You can obtain exemption for the special operations section for the next exam, if you pass these operations with satisfactory results during your TTT.
How many driving lessons do I need?
This depends heavily on your own learning style, experience and development in the car. The average number of class hours is around 39 hours (according to CBR research). A fluent student can sometimes graduate with as little as 30 lessons.
How many minutes does a driving lesson take?
All our driving lessons have the duration of 60 minutes. Our recommendation is to teach in block hours of 120, 180 or 240 minutes.
How far in advance can I cancel a driving lesson?
Lessons can be cancelled outside of 48 hours on weekdays, otherwise the entire bill will be charged.
Why do I need to authorize the driving school with my DigiD?
Before Alblas Verkeersschool can reserve your interim test and/or practical exam for you, you must first give permission. You do that with a DigiD authorization. This can be done through the site my.cbr.nl with driving school number 3206H1.
I have already had lessons at another driving school, can I still join Alblas Verkeersschool?
Yes, you can. It is always possible to take lessons at Alblas Verkeersschool.
