Truck (C) driving license

Feb 6, 2015

Drivers wishing to drive a truck whose maximum authorized mass (= unladen mass plus the maximum authorized weight of cargo) exceeds 3500 kilograms must hold a category C(truck) driving license.

  • In September 2009, the European directive went into effect, setting new requirements for entry into the profession of truck driving. As of Sept. 7, 2009, CCV no longer issues driver’s certificates for truck driver. A code on your driver’s license replaces the CCV-B driver’s certificate. This code is valid for five years.

If you want to obtain the vocational skills code on your driver’s license, your exam route will look as follows:

You can take the practical exam as soon as you pass the first two theory exams. The third theory exam, Practical Test C and Test Confined Terrain C or Test Simulator C may also be taken after the practical exam.

If you are in possession of valid results of the above exams as well as practical tests, you are entitled to the issuance of a C driver’s license (subject to medical approval) with professional competence code.
If you hold a C driver’s license with a professional competence code, you can also take the practical exam for the CE driver’s license (tractor-trailer or truck with trailer). Therefore, after obtaining the CE driver’s license, the professional competence code is placed after the CE category on the driver’s license.

You need a driver’s license if you:
– drives for your profession and
– were born after June 30, 1955

Prior to all CCV exams, you must be able to identify yourself by legal identification (with passport photo). CCV accepts for participation in its examinations the following legal credentials:

■valid Dutch driver’s license

■valid Dutch passport

■valid European identity card

■valid passport of EC and EEA nationals.

■valid refugee travel document issued in the Netherlands

■valid travel document for foreign nationals issued in the Netherlands

It follows from the legal system that people with a W document (for asylum seekers) and people with expired A through F alien documents cannot claim a driver’s license. While the W document is a proof of identity, it is not a residence permit and therefore not a good document to obtain a driver’s license from the municipality.

Without a valid ID, we cannot administer the exam.

Laminated documents or damaged documents will not be accepted.

You need a C driving licenseif you want to drive a motor vehicle whose maximum permitted mass (see Part 1A vehicle license or registration certificate Part I) is more than 3500 kg.To obtain a C driving license, you must pass two theory exams and a practical exam.

Practical exam C

The exam begins with preparation and inspection of the vehicle and papers. Then you will drive inside and outside built-up areas and on different road types. During the exam, you must demonstrate mastery of the vehicle in all facets under a variety of conditions. Important part of the exam are the special operations, such as reversing a turn and turning through stitches.

Also, you will have to deal with a so-called navigation assignment. Without direction from the examiner, you will drive your own route for part of the exam. The examiner determines where you will drive. To plan your route, you may use a map or a navigation system. If you do not reach the location, it is not a disaster. It’s about showing that you make your own responsible choices in traffic.

If you are going to take single lessons , you will determine the time of exam in consultation with your instructor. You can schedule as many lessons per week as you like. There is no waiting period for single lessons. We teach in blocks of at least 2 hours.

A crash course involves driving for a number of consecutive days ( 5 – 7 or 10), along with another candidate. That happens on weekdays. At noon, we then provide lunch in our cafeteria. Alblas has been working with this formula since 1990, and with very good learning results.

Why a crash course?
– You drive every day for a week, all the information will remain fresh in the
memory.
– Today’s lesson connects to yesterday’s lesson.
– You don’t have to wait a week for the next lesson.
– You passed in a short time.
– You will learn from your fellow candidate. (behind the wheel every hour)
– Lessons are taught by (2-3) different instructors; that way you will stay
sharp and get used to the exam situation already.
